The Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland grows giving and philanthropy, enabling people and businesses to support vital causes across North East England.

Every year, we award grants to 100s of small charities in Tyne & Wear and Northumberland, and across North East England, through funds set up by our generous donors, including many regional firms large and small. Last year we awarded 1253 grants totalling £8.4m to 622 organisations and 91 individuals.

We are supporting the North East Business Awards because we want to celebrate the vital role business in our region plays in building thriving and sustainable communities. Many local businesses give back through the region’s community foundations, through their own charities, through employee volunteering or through financial and pro bono support for local organisations. With environment, social and governance concerns ever higher on the agenda of customers, staff, managers and investors, we want to see even more companies inspired to get involved in local initiatives that take their impact beyond the bottom line.
